To start off with, I bought this as a space saving option. I knew going into it that bunk beds tend to wiggle and also metal that rubs together will creak. So keep that in mind. This bed has been such a lifesaver. Im 120lbs and sleep comfortably on the bottom bunk. I have an 8in thick mattress and can partially sit up without hitting my head (Im 53 so Im also short). The top bunk is less steady but still safe and the rails help to make the top bunk feel extremely comfortable, safety wise. I have a 6in mattress on the top and the clearance to the ceiling is fine, and the rails still stick up over it plenty.
Tips:
something on the four legs to avoid scratches. I used tennis balls but fabric stickers work too.
Pool noodles on the ladder(s), they are thin and uncomfortable to step up on.
Assembly will take hours. There are lots of pieces. This is going to be the same with any type of metal bunk bed.
Overall, this is an amazing bed at an amazing price. Very much so worth it.
