Im overall very pleased with this purchase, but will note that it is NOT a quick or easy 1person job to assemble. The wood is laminate with a wood effect finish, which is probably to be expected for the price. I dont mind - it looks lovely, and is going to be super-easy to wipe down, hard to stain, etc. I like the dimensions, it looks neat and elegant, not bulky, and works well in a small space. The two-tier aspect (and drawer - although its a shallow drawer) also make good use of the footprint.
As for the assembley: it came with all the right pieces, so theres that. The manual was not factually inaccurate. BUT, the diagrams were almost like trick questions at points, like they were designed to catch you out: youd assume that the sequence of diagrams took the same perspective, but without any indication, sometimes they would show the parts laid out upside-down or back-to-front versus the previous illustration, so it was VERY easy to accidentally mix up left with right when you seemed to be following instructions carefully. My advice to anyone working on this would be to examine each new diagram carefully and assume theres a catch!
The second thing Ill say - about it being more of a two- person job - is that there were various points where the assembley was kind of three-dimensionsal and you really wanted two pairs of hands to be able to hold three different things at one time so that a screw could go in the right place. It was definitely manageable with one, but harder than other flat-pack assembley jobs Ive done.
Finally, there was one part where the wood was just cut wrong, and left a small gap between one of the boards and the supporting bar. Its not a weight-bearing part, just ornamental really, and the desk is excellently supported overall - feels very sturdy - and the gap is at the back and isnt a noticeable design flaw, so this really wasnt a big deal for me. But just noting it as en error. (The two screws that were supposed to go in here I just had to leave out.)
If youre willing to bring time and patience to the assembley, I think its excellent value for money.
Looks great; not an easy 1-person assembley
