Well constructed of hardwood. Excellent assembly instructions with complete parts list. If you take your time and follow the instructions, it's easy to put together. All pre-drilled holes were properly aligned with matched pieces. It comes with a tool, but I highly recommend using a variable speed drill or at least a rachet for all the screws and bolts. With the trundle, it comes in two boxes and one is heavy; so help is required to get it in the room. Two people are also required for final step, putting the top bunk on. I highly recommend this item for anyone who needs bunk beds.
