I bought this chair to replace an expensive leather Ly Boy that I was struggling to get out of.
Since I already owned two other pieces of furniture I did not expect any problems, and I did not have any. There are no bugs or odd smells in this chair. I wonder if the all/caps reviewer got a chair that had been returned by someone with a disgusting home?
The chair is a darker brown than my Larkinhurst sofa, and has a different finish to the fabric. They look fine in the same room, but theyre clearly not a matched set.
Having lived with top grain leather furniture, and with this synthetic material uses, I would say the synthetic is far more comfortable to sit on and it holds up surprisingly well. The leather is more stylish but it is cold and slippery. The synthetic is not as stylish but it looks fine, and it feels so much softer and warmer. I prefer comfort so I am never going to buy any more leather.
The seat of this chair is firmer and far more supportive than other recliners I have owned. It also sits higher. I like this since I am tall (36 inseam) and I have mobility challenges. I can get out of this chair even without using the lifting mechanism. But if you have short legs you might not be able to sit deep enough in the chair to get back support.
The footrest could be longer, my feet hang off. But it is well padded enough that it is plenty comfortable. No sharp edge pressing into the back of my ankles. The seat of the chair does not tilt back like other recliners do when you recline, and the footrest doesnt lift high enough to bring my feel above my heart, but the back reclines farther than other recliners. So you cant get this chair into that zero gravity position like a conventional recliner, but you can get it closer to flat, for sleeping. And I love the fact that you can adjust the footrest and back separately.
With the ongoing supply chain snafus, I was quite pleased that I could get this chair delivered in just four days, with no drama, and at a very reasonable price.
