    Surface chipping

The cabinet was purchased to put in my kitchen. Putting it together moved right along until I tried to install the lower cupboard doors. The hinge placements didn't allow either door to close. I tried turning the doors upside down, thinking there was an error in the holes drilled but nothing lined up. I ended up having to drill new holes and chisel the space for the hinge to get the doors to line up. Not such a biggie, but frustrating. Once the cabinet was in the kitchen and filled with dishes, I noticed the finish was chipped on the outside of the left center shelf. It was small and I thought I would just put a little paint there but it's gotten bigger. Tonight I rearranged some of the dishes and there is a large area where the white surface is chipped off. The whole top of the center shelf is cracked and in no time it will all flake off. To take the cabinet apart and ship back would be difficult and probably very expensive, so here I am with a costly cabinet that is low quality. Very disappointed to say the least. If I touch it at all it flakes off. I'm going to have to sand it and paint it, which I shouldn't have to do, and not quite sure how that will look. Totally bummed!
