This is one of the few beds without a gap above the ladder. I have a very squirmy, wobbly kid, so this was a vital feature. He can climb over the rail safely even when sleepy, but would have fallen out in his sleep without it.
Im planning to follow another reviewers idea for adding wood above the ladders steps to make them less painful, though my kid is as light as a feather and so hasnt complained about pain yet.
I needed a second adult to put this together. It says to assemble it upright from the start, so you need to be able to hold things up high to put them together.
The whole thing wobbles much more than I would like, however it isnt going anywhere. Even I would have a heck of a time pulling this thing over or down, which helped relieve my kids nerves. Im trying to figure out if I need to tighten it regularly, and if so, how often.
The slats under the bed are not individually strong. Kids being kids, we all know theyll tug on them and try to use them for gymnastics, and likely hang things from them as well. They bend quite a lot when my walking stick of a kid tries to hang from them, so do not buy this with the intention that you could hang anything below the bed.
Great, if a tad wobbly
