Some parts of wood are not flush, painted over, still beautiful regardless if you dont mind. before and after assembly, make sure you wipe down unit with some sort of wet wipe while wearing gloves. there are very tiny shards from the glass. did not notice until i cleaned it to stick clear vinyl on top of shelves. my child loves opening it so i will be replacing glass with clear plastic sheet/board instead.
