Product is decent-quality compressed particle board. It is not cheap or flimsy feeling at all. The assembled unit is heavy enough that it takes two people to move it efficiently. The metal ball-bearing slides are very smooth and solid, and there is a toggle switch that prevents both drawers from opening at once. The switch functions well but is made of plastic (heavy-gauge), so we will see how well that feature works after repeated use over time.
Assembly is fairly easy, though time consuming. The instructions are drawing only, exploded views, with arrows pointing to points where pieces meet and screws are used, and they get a little confusing at times, but clear enough. All fasteners and different size screws are clearly indicated at each step, and each board is labeled for easy ID. I timed assembly without breaks and it took me alone a little over 2 1/2 hours to assemble from box, working at a deliberate and steady pace, and I am pretty handy with woodworking. If you are careful to snugly tighten all screws and corner connectors without over-tightening and stripping, finished unit will be solid and durable.
Standard letter-size hanging files are supported by the front and back drawer pieces which can hold plenty of weight, easily 50 lbs or more each, but drawer bottoms are made of thinner fiberboard material and arent designed to hold weight. Dont buy if you need to store items on floor of drawers. They may support 20 lbs (?) distributed evenly across entire drawer before bulging downward and/or breaking or popping out of grooves. However, the roof or top of cabinet is very heavy duty and can easily hold the weight of printers and other heavy equipment, etc., without fear of breaking. This is the heaviest piece in the kit.
Assembled unit has a very sleek flat-black wood grain laminate look and should last for years if not abused. May be better suited for a home setting vs a busy office environment.
