8 person tent with 1 Adult and 1 Cub Scout! very light gear, and nothing even remotely touching the sides of the tent. Temp was Low 60s to mid 70s on a 2 night 3 day camping trip. Sadly, as other has said and taken pictures of - this tent...has some water issues. Our trip was wet, wet, wet but we had no wind.
Issue 1: As noted by others, the front porch turns into a hot, muddle, disaster area when it rains. Granted, thats better than the inside of the tent, BUT.....dont even think about keeping anything you care about outside if its raining; even if it looks safe We ended up having to roast our shoes on the fire to get them dry them. Our folding chairs were drenched. And, oh the pools of water. You absolutely want the front of the tent at a downward angle so that the swamp can go some where. Itll still be a muddy mess, but at least you wont need to swim. Obviously, none of this is an issue when its not raining.
Issue 2: Pretty much the entire rear of the tent is ventilation, so if it is raining you can pretty much expect to get drops on you at a fairly consistent rate. All we had was rain, rain, and more rain for a solid 6-8 hours with no wind, and about 3 hours into it you could see the rain drops starting on the inside of the rain cover. Randomly we would get a drop here and there, nothing super painful, but I cant imagine having to deal with this in the wind - Ugh...I honestly have no clue what I would have done if it was windy because there really isnt a safe place to move your stuff. Now, the inner wall of the tent itself did get wet, but not even remotely close to the rain cover.
Issue 3: We have 1 Corner on the inside of the tent was wicking the wet from the outside in. Nothing a towel didnt clean up, but...yeah, I was pretty sad to see that. Again, there are other reviews with pictures...this does happen! We had all of our stuff at least 1 foot from any wall. I tried to figure out where it was coming from, but I have no clue. It was at the seam where the tarp bottom and the fabric sides meet - and right at the corner we could see a fairly constant drip drip drip. We have the tent up properly and will all guide lines staked and run tight - so Im not exactly sure where it was coming from.
All that said, I do like this tent and I think its going to be good for my family, especially because we dont go camping that often. I think this tent would be amazing when its not raining thats for sure, and I cant use it again in the future. It was easy to put up, and my 7 yo and I put it up in the rain in about 20 minutes, so it wasnt too bad.
