I just put these together. My husband is working out of town so my only help was my 4 and 2 year old kids. I wanted to get them together as 2 twin beds, not a bunk bed just yet. After reading reviews I was a bit worried about it, I shouldnt have been. I laid everything out first, made sure I had everything, then got started. Everything fit well, no mis/drilled holes, nothing out of whack. The only time I found anything a little off, it was my fault for having the board the wrong direction. There are subtle differences, so if something is off, you most likely just have the wrong piece or its turned the wrong way. As I said, very subtle differences between the top and bottom set at times, pay close attention and youll be fine. It was solid before I started on the slates, and once I screwed every individual slate down, both ends (as per the instructions), Im pretty sure this thing will survive a natural disaster. This is a very sturdily built, and very nice looking, bed set. There is almost a foot of clearance between the bottom of the mattress and the floor (on both beds), plenty of room for storage (if you have less you put it together wrong). I managed to put it together alone (barring some occasional toddler assistance). If I was going to stack them into bunks Id need help (grown/up help for that) They are heavy. It came in 2 boxes, or Id have had to break it down in the yard and haul it in that way, as it was one box (the smaller one) was actually difficult to get up the stairs, heavy and awkward. painted surface is also very nicely done, smooth and polished, very durable, no chipping or scratches, and feels like it would take a little work to damage. This does not look or feel like a cheap set. I couldnt be more thrilled with this set. This set is built to last.
