UPDATED/ (RATING CHANGE WITH FIX I USE LISTED) I Am Very Disappointed In This Chair
(ALERT/ RATING CHANGE/ I have an update at the end of this review. I was able to fix the problem after working on the chair. Fix listed in my update. I am leaving the original review here for you to see and then how it changed at the end)
(ORIGINAL REVIEW)
I really wanted to have a chair to put in my sewing room to use with my serger. I was really expecting something useful and reasonably comfortable. I was not expecting it to be like it was.
WHAT IS THIS CHAIR LIKE?
This chair comes in pieces and the idea is that you put it together. It is not overly difficult, so if you are not mechanically inclined, you should still be fine. The base has to have the wheels pushed into the spots for them. There is a piece that snaps over the base. Then you have to put the shaft in the base. After that, the seat rests on top of that. They do not hold together with any screws or other things.
The idea is that this chair height lifts up and also has a tilt feature.
HOW DOES THIS CHAIR PERFORM?
I am not happy with this chair, plain and simple. It does not have a good tilt to the back/ sits upright a bit too much. The padding is not that comfortable, and the seating area itself is very small. If you are a large person, you may not fit in this chair. The top weight that this chair is designed for in the inserts is 250 lbs. I am thinking even smaller.
As for the tilt feature/ forget it. It does not work. We all turned the screw that is supposed to release the tilt feature and there was no change. No matter what we did there was no change in the tilt feature. We have a home maintenance guy in our house who is excellent and he could not get it to work. That really was frustrating. I need at least a little bit of tilt in my chairs and this did not tilt as it said it would, not even a little bit.
The lift works fine and the is tough and appears relatively sturdy. It is not soft, but a bit rough. I did not expect anything different of the , so that was not a deal breaker for me.
The wheels move okay on carpet, but most wheels are not marvelous on carpet, again, not disappointed in that.
THE BOTTOM LINE
This chair says top weight is 250lb, but I am thinking smaller. The seat area is very small, and the tilt feature does not work. The chair is not hard to put together, but with the frustration of no tilt and mediocre comfort, I just dont think it is worth it. I rather wish I did not get it.
MY RATING
Two stars because it has some merit, but not as much as I had hoped.
UPDATED REVIEW AND RATING
Although I still do not like this chair as much as I thought, I do like it a bit more than I originally did when I wrote this review. After being persistent to try to fix the rocking problem, I worked with the chair for quite a while. Then I discovered the problem. The lock bar on the bottom had been stuck into place. It did not unlock but it would raise the chair up. That is why I did not understand why it would not rock.
After working with the chair for a while, I was able to dislodge the stuck lock bar and now the chair does tilt enough to make it better. I would like it to tilt a bit more, but it is a LOT better than it was. The chair itself is adequately comfortable for what I want it for, so I am raising this up to four stars. I like it, but am not raving CRY about it.
