Great leather sectional, terrible shopping experience.
The sofa: 5 starts
The chocolate leather sectional is really nice for the price. It seems to be made of top grain leather with a solid wood construction. It scratches easily, I have scratched it with my short nails several times, and anything sharper than that will scratch it more easily.
Material: The leather is not buttery supple to the touch but it still feels soft against the skin. It has a more matte finish and the feel of some sort of added coating, but the uneven texture of the top grain Is visible.
Cushions: The seat cushions are firm and the back cushions have a softer density filling material. All cushions can be detached from the sofa. The seat cushions can be lifted away, and the back cushions are attached to the back with zippers. The fillings are not accessible. The seat cushions are made of leather on the top and sides, and a stretch-fabric underneath (not visible). The back cushions are fully made of leather. The ornament bolster pillows are also detachable and have zippers to access the filling.
Chaise: The chaise part can be set either on the left or right of the sectional by switching seat the cushions and moving the support-ottoman that goes under the chaise area.
Construction: The inside structure is made os solid wood (likely pine) and it feels solid compared the average-price furniture being sold today. Definitely not solid like my grandpas furniture or like the more expensive ones being sold today.
Legs: It has 10 legs total. Made of solid wood in dark brown. Two are cylindrical and the rest are rectangular. The rounded (cylindrical) ones go in the middle of the sofa for support. They are all approximately 7 inches long by 2 inches thick, and screw into the sofas pre-drilled holes.
Unboxing: The sectional comes all in one box the size of the main seating. All the cushions as well as the ottoman that makes the sectional come pilled on top of that part. The legs are screwed into one of the wood structures inside of the sofa. They can be accessed from underneath through a zipper.
The shopping experience: 0 starts
I received the wrong sectional TWICE, and it took me an entire month, between phone calls, pickup/delivery coordinations, and missed days at work, to get the correct sofa. This struggle tarnished the new sofa experience for a while. But now my family and I are really enjoying the sectional, especially the dog.
