The bed is inexpensive for what it does, and the instructions to put it together were clear and it arrived with no pieces missing. As it arrives, you really have to piece it together, but it was rewarding when it is done, and I was impressed by the ingenious way they set it up to be able to be packaged flat and yet result in a fully functional bunk bed.
My daughter used it for 2.5 years. One down side is that it really squeaks, especially if you climb up to the top bunk. It can also be difficult for some people to make it to the top bunk since the ladder is straight up not angled. For comfort, she ended up mostly sleeping on the pulled out bottom bunk. We also bought a thick futon for the bottom, and it may work better with a thinner futon.
When we put in new carpeting we had to get the bed out of the room, so I partially disassembled it. It was handy having the instructions, but one bolt got bent in the process (hint loosen all the bolts all over before you start taking it apart) and we had lost one futon holder. To my pleasant surprise, is replacing them for free.
The bed was great for sleepovers and my daughter kept her stuffed animals in the top bunk when she didnt have a friend over. Weve switched her over to another bed, which is smaller and that she likes better and put this in the guest bedroom. Id say its great for guests (particularly the child kind) and it is rather satisfying to put together and is excellent, but if I buy a bunk bed again, I may go for a wooden one or one with easier access to the top bunk. Worth every penny.
Clever design, but squeaky bed
