2 hours removed from putting this together, and I think I can feel my fingers again! Heres my take:
Pros:
/ Almost all instructions were clear (see cons for some exceptions
/ All the parts were there!
/ This bests the last bunk bed I put together last year for assembly of the cross bars.the slide/push/down/clip process is better than the last slide/lock system I used ( Easy Assembly Quick Lock Twin over Twin Metal Bunk Bed).
Cons:
/ As you can see in the picture, one slight misstep in assembling the bars resulted in just slightly too much pressure on one side, ripping out a connector.I was able to use some miscellaneous hardware to make it work, but thankfully it was only on the bottom.this means you MUST use 2 people and you MUST be extra careful until at least 2 cross beams are installed
/ Theres a note in the beginning NOT to tighten unless the step tells you to.and then no step tells you to! I figured out the best time to do it (basically, before you put in all the cross bars for the long connections, then after the crossbars for the short connections
/ There is one illustration in particular that makes it look like 1 bar is J, when it is H (I think I got that right.threw out the instructions). A little better drawing could have saved me 15/20 minutes of re/do.
Overall, quality is really good (except if you strip a connection!). Total assembly is probably 2/3 hours if you dont have to re/do anything and you have an apprentice to help you. The final look is nice.seems sturdy, and only the typical shaking of non/solid/wood bunkbeds. The gray finish I got is industrial but in a good way.
Good luck! Very well made.
Really good bed with a few cons
