Definitely takes two people to assemble. The instructions are straight forward. I think we took about 2 hrs assembling but it can be done faster if you lay out all the pieces. My 16 year old loves this day bed, it’s sturdy and two people can sit on it with no problem. My 3 year old sleeps on the bottom bed. I use twin size foam mattress for both top and bottom.
