When people have measured this item, they have not measured for clearance/ but for height of the table top. I purchased two, and am very disappointed, as they are too short to pull up to a chair or couch unless you hem yourself in. (I thought by the measurement they would clear the low arm rests on my couch, but the table support system adds 1.5 under the table, so it only fits beside the couch, or else pulled up into your lap/ but not as an over the side of the arm. I only unpacked one, since it is just another piece of furniture that takes up its own space and does not nestle as advertised.
